Driveway Swing Gates
Single-leaf and dual-swing gates from 10 to 20 feet, framed in 2 by 2 or 3 by 3 steel tube with heavy hinge posts. Best when the drive has room for the leaf to open inward.
Custom Residential Ironwork
Custom driveway gates, entry gates and matching fence panels for Houston homes and acreage. Welded, galvanized or powder coated and hung by our own crews, on posts set deep enough that the gate does not sag.

Service Overview
A driveway gate that sags, binds or rusts through in a few years is a Houston problem. Gulf humidity and salt air chew through thin paint on plain steel. The clay under the posts swells and shrinks with every wet and dry spell, until the leaf drags on the drive. Jimenes Construction has been building and hanging iron gates here for 23 years, and our own crew draws it, cuts it, welds it, coats it and hangs it.
A gate holds up here when the frame is welded from real structural tube and the posts sit in footings deep enough for this clay. The coating goes on over blasted or galvanized steel. We build driveway gates that swing or slide, entry and courtyard gates, pedestrian gates, and the fence panels, posts and columns that frame them. It all runs through the same shop as our steel fabrication and structural steel work, so a gate gets the same weld quality as a building frame.
A gate is usually one piece of a bigger entrance. If the drive is cracked or too narrow for the swing, our concrete driveway crew handles it, and masonry entry columns often share a footing with a retaining wall. You get one estimate for the whole entrance.
Coverage
Every gate below is drawn, welded and coated in our own shop, then hung by our own crew.
Single-leaf and dual-swing gates from 10 to 20 feet, framed in 2 by 2 or 3 by 3 steel tube with heavy hinge posts. Best when the drive has room for the leaf to open inward.
Slide gates for narrow lots, sloped drives and long fence lines, up to about 30 feet clear. No swing path needed, so the car can sit at the keypad without blocking the gate.
Walk gates, courtyard gates and side yard gates in scrolled iron, flat bar or clean square tube, sized to your columns and matched to the front door hardware.
Wide farm and estate entrances with pipe posts and cattle-grade hinges. Solar power for drives that sit far from the meter. Common on acreage in Waller, Montgomery and Fort Bend counties.
Matching steel fence panels, gate posts and column frames so the gate and the run read as one piece instead of two suppliers.
Gates squared and braced for an operator, with conduit sleeves under the drive for the safety loops, photo eyes and keypad. We set the frame, then work with your gate operator installer.
Our Process
Five steps, the same on a courtyard gate and on a 24-foot ranch entrance. Call (832) 576-3278 to start at step one.
We measure the opening, check the slope, the turning radius off the street and where a car can wait. We also read your deed restrictions or HOA rules before we draw anything.
A drawing and a line-item quote: steel size, infill pattern, gate style, coating, hinges and latch, post footings, and the conduit for automation.
Frames cut and jigged square, then welded to AWS D1.1 by our certified welders. Welds get ground smooth. We hang the whole gate in the shop to check the swing before it leaves.
We locate utilities and dig the post footings deep enough for this clay. The posts are set plumb in concrete. Then we sleeve the conduit under the drive for the operator, loops and keypad.
Steel blasted and hot-dip galvanized or primed, then powder coated. We hang the gate, set the hinges, cycle it, adjust the latch and hand you the coating and hardware paperwork.
Timeline
Real ranges from our own job records, from measure to the day it swings.

| Dual-swing driveway gate | 14 - 20 ft wide | 4 - 6 Weeks |

Engineering & Compliance
Two things kill gates in Houston: rust from the coating down, and clay under the posts. We build against both on purpose.
Why Jimenes
Gates go wrong at the hand-offs: one shop welds it, another crew sets the posts, a third hangs it. We draw it, weld it, coat it and hang it ourselves.
We set gate posts for ground that moves. Footing depth and width come off the gate weight and the soil on your lot.
Prep is most of the job here. Steel gets blasted, galvanized or primed and then powder coated, and every field weld gets zinc-rich touch-up.
Steel, infill, coating, posts, hinges, latch and automation sleeve each get their own line. You can see what a heavier gate or a longer leaf actually costs.
Credentials
Texas does not license steel or gate contractors, so we send the insurance certificate and the coating and weld paperwork with every proposal. Here is what a Houston gate builder can actually show you.
Where We Work
Headquartered in Houston and building iron gates across the Greater Houston area, from inside the 610 Loop out to the acreage along the Grand Parkway. If you searched for a custom iron gate builder near me and landed here, this is the radius we cover. We can measure your opening the same week.
Good Questions
Still not sure? Call and talk to the person who will weld and hang your gate.
Talk to a BuilderThere is no flat rate, because a 12-foot walk-behind gate and a 24-foot automated ranch entrance are different jobs. Six things move the price:
The driveway decides it more than taste does. A swing gate needs clear, fairly level room for the leaf to open, and the leaf gets heavy past about 14 feet, so wide openings usually go dual-swing. A cantilever slide gate is the answer on a sloped drive, a short setback from the street, or an opening wider than about 20 feet. Slide gates also let a car wait at the keypad without sitting in the swing path. We measure the width, the slope and the turning radius off the street before we recommend one.
Plain steel with a coat of paint will, and fast, especially east toward the Ship Channel and the bay. The fix is prep. We blast the steel first. Then we either hot-dip galvanize it to ASTM A123 or prime it with a zinc-rich primer. Powder coat goes on over that clean surface, never over mill scale. Tube ends are sealed and drain holes are drilled so rain cannot sit inside the frame. Every field cut and field weld gets zinc-rich touch-up before the crew leaves. Our steel repair and field modification crew can also strip, re-weld and re-coat a gate you already own.
Yes. We build the gate square and braced for an operator. The hinge post is set heavy enough for the load. We sleeve conduit under the drive for the safety loops, photo eyes and keypad. On acreage where the meter is hundreds of feet from the road, a solar operator with a battery is usually the cheaper answer than trenching power. We set the frame and the sleeves, then work alongside your gate operator installer so the wiring is in before the concrete goes down. If the driveway is being replaced anyway, see our concrete driveways page and we will sequence both.
HOA or deed-restriction approval is the one that catches most homeowners. Many Houston-area subdivisions have to approve the gate style, height and color before anything is built, and a committee can take weeks. On the permit side, a gate on private property often does not need one. Taller fences and walls can. The rules differ between the City of Houston and Harris, Montgomery, Fort Bend and Waller counties. Pool-area gates are separate: Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 757 requires them to be self-closing and self-latching. We check all of it before we cut steel and we hand you the drawing your HOA needs.
Almost always the posts. Houston clay swells in the wet season and shrinks in a dry one. A post in a shallow footing tips a little more each year, until the leaf drags or the latch stops lining up. A long single leaf also sags at the latch end if the frame was not braced or the hinges were undersized. We size the hinge post and the footing to the gate weight and leaf length. The concrete collar is crowned so water runs off. The frame is braced in the shop before it is ever hung. Doing that on the same ground as our steel fabrication work is why our gates still close square years later. Call (832) 576-3278 and we will look at yours.
