Slab & Flat Sawing
Straight, controlled cuts through floors, driveways and pads for trench drains, joints, patch-backs and removals, sawn to a marked line.
Commercial & Residential Concrete
Clean holes and straight cuts through concrete, drilled and sawn by our own crew across Greater Houston. We scan for post-tension cables and rebar first, then wet cut to keep the silica dust down.

Service Overview
Most Houston slabs hide rebar and post-tension cables just below the surface, along with the conduit and drain lines the original crew poured over. Cutting a clean hole or a straight opening through that concrete without hitting what runs inside it is the whole job. Concrete cutting and core drilling gets a new drain, conduit run, HVAC line, or wall opening through a slab without cracking it or nicking a tendon. Jimenes Construction self-performs that work with our own crew across Greater Houston, and we have been cutting and coring concrete for 23 years. We scan every slab before a blade or bit touches it, then lay out each cut in the open space between the steel.
That scan is ground penetrating radar. Our own crew runs it to map the tendons and steel, marks the slab, then cuts around them. There is no saw sub who shows up cold and cuts blind. Many Houston homes and commercial pads sit on post-tension slabs, and plenty more sit on conventional reinforced slabs. We cut both, and we have been at it for 23 years.
We wet cut to hold down the silica dust that OSHA regulates, and we contain the slurry. What we hand off is a square opening ready for the trade behind us. If the cut needs closing after, our concrete repair and restoration crew patches it back.
Coverage
From a single cored hole to full selective demolition, our crew runs the saws and the drill rig in house.
Straight, controlled cuts through floors, driveways and pads for trench drains, joints, patch-backs and removals, sawn to a marked line.
Round holes from 1 to 24 inches for plumbing, electrical, HVAC and data penetrations, bored clean through slabs, walls and beams.
Door and window openings, vents and louvers cut into tilt-wall, block and cast-in-place walls with a track-mounted wall saw.
Diamond wire for thick sections, heavy foundations and reinforced concrete a blade cannot reach, cut to size for removal.
Ground penetrating radar to map post-tension tendons, rebar and conduit before a blade or bit ever touches the slab.
Section removals and openings for remodels and tie-ins, cut so the concrete that stays keeps its strength.
Our Process
Five steps, the same on one cored hole and on a full demolition cut. Call (832) 576-3278 to start at step one.
We walk the job and mark where the holes and cuts go. Then we check access for the saw and the core rig. We also plan the water supply and slurry routing.
We scan the slab or wall with ground penetrating radar, map the post-tension cables, rebar and conduit, and mark safe cut lines around them.
A line-item quote: hole count and size, linear feet of sawing, method, dust and slurry control, and a permit note if the cut is structural.
We wet cut and core to the marks and keep the silica dust down. The slurry gets bermed, vacuumed and hauled off the site.
We pull the cores, clear the debris, haul off the slurry, and hand the opening to the next trade with a clean, square edge.
Timeline
Real ranges from our own job records, from mobilization to a clean, handed-off opening.
| Project Type | Typical Size | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Single core hole (plumbing or electrical) | 1 - 6 in diameter | Same Day |
| MEP penetrations for a rough-in | 10 - 40 holes | 1 - 2 Days |
| Slab sawing for a trench or slot drain | 40 - 200 linear ft | 1 - 3 Days |
| Wall opening (door, window or louver) | 1 - 6 openings | 2 - 4 Days |
| Selective demolition cutting | Removal package | 1 - 2 Weeks |
Engineering & Compliance
Cutting concrete is easy. Cutting it without hitting a cable and without breathing the dust is the job.
Why Jimenes
The same crew scans, marks, cuts and cleans. Nothing gets handed to a saw sub who never saw the GPR map.
Most cut cables and nicked rebar come from cutting blind. We run GPR on every job and lay each cut out around what the scan finds.
We wet cut to keep silica dust down and contain the slurry, so an occupied building stays clean and OSHA compliant.
Holes, linear feet, method and cleanup each get their own line. You see what you pay for, and change orders are signed first.
Credentials
Texas does not license concrete contractors, so we send the insurance certificate with every proposal. Here is what a concrete cutting contractor in Houston can actually show you.
Where We Work
Headquartered in Houston and cutting and coring concrete across the Greater Houston area, from inside the 610 Loop out past the Grand Parkway. If you searched for concrete cutting near me and landed here, this is the radius we cover. We can be on site the same week.
Good Questions
Still not sure? Call and talk to the crew that will run your cut.
Talk to a BuilderThere is no flat rate. Core drilling is usually priced per hole by diameter and depth, and sawing is priced by the linear foot and the cut depth. A single small core can be a quick same-day job, while a full demolition cut is a bigger number. Four things move the price. Hole or cut size and the amount of steel in the way set most of it. Access to the work and the dust and slurry cleanup do the rest. We do not publish a price per hole, because a number given before we see the slab is a guess. Ask for the free written estimate and every item gets its own line.
Yes, on every job. We run ground penetrating radar (GPR) to map the post-tension tendons, rebar and conduit, then mark safe cut lines around them. This matters most on a post-tension slab, where a cut tendon can snap loose and become a structural repair. It also protects the steel in a conventional reinforced slab. The blade only goes where the scan shows clear concrete.
We wet cut. Water at the blade or bit holds down the crystalline silica dust that OSHA regulates under 29 CFR 1926.1153. It also cools the diamonds so they last longer. Wet cutting makes slurry, so we berm it and vacuum it up as we go. None of it reaches your floor drains or the storm drain. In an occupied building we tarp off the area and clean as we go.
Yes, and it is one of the most common calls we get in Houston, where many homes and pads are post-tension. We scan the slab with GPR, map the tendons, and lay out the opening so the cut misses them. If a tendon has to be cut and re-anchored, that is engineered work, and we coordinate it. Read more on our post-tension slabs page, and if the opening needs closing back up, see concrete repair and restoration.
For a small plumbing or electrical penetration, usually not on its own. Cutting a structural opening, a doorway in a bearing wall, or a large section out of a slab can need an engineer detail and a permit. Inside city limits that goes through the City of Houston. Outside it goes through Harris County Engineering or your county office. We flag it in the estimate and pull what is needed. When the cut ties into new drain lines, see our trench and slot drains page.
